Information Collection and Use

• Marshalltown Gateway Centre is the sole owners of the information collected from members and customers and/or Website users. Marshalltown Gateway Centre is committed to using our best efforts to protect private information and will not sell or rent any information to others. Personal information will not be sold or rented to other companies without the member or customer's written consent, or as required by law.
• Marshalltown Gateway Centre, or research associates retained solely for the purposes of monitoring customer satisfaction, needs and opinions, may from time to time contact members and customers via phone, mail or e-mail to conduct research. All research information collected is used solely by Marshalltown Gateway Centre and its affiliates to monitor member and customer opinions and needs for current or potential products and services.
• Personally identifiable information such as name, address, account number, phone number, financial information, social security number, e-mail address, etc., is required for some business processes. This information will be maintained as confidential business information for which access is strictly limited. Other anonymous information such as demographic, household, hobbies, interests, etc., may also be collected for use in identifying and understanding market segments. In some instances a combination of the two types of information may be collected. This type of information does not identify individuals personally and will only be used for the cooperative's internal business purpose in an attempt to serve its members and customers better.

Employee and Business Partner Access to Customer Information

We restrict access to all member and customer information to only those employees and business partners who need it to provide members and customers with service and information. Marshalltown Gateway Centre's employees, directors, auditors and other business partners having authorized access to company databases and records are required by confidentiality agreements to respect customer privacy and to access customer information only when they have a business reason.

Use of Website Cookies

Some areas of the Website utilize "cookies." A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user's hard drive containing information about the user while on the cooperative's Website. In most cases the cookie will simply terminate when the browser is closed. However, in some areas of the site cookies are designed to terminate after a pre-determined amount of time even if the browser is kept active. If a user rejects the cookie they may still browse the site; however, in some instances they may be unable to access all information on a particular page.

Website Log Files

Marshalltown Gateway Centre keeps track of user IP addresses to help analyze trends, track movement, administer the Website and gather broad user information. IP addresses are not linked to personally identifiable information and simply allow the centre to determine what areas best serve our members and customers.

Website Links

All links to other sites are provided as a convenience to our members and customers. Marshalltown Gateway Centre is not responsible for the privacy practices of the sites for which we provide links. Once a browser leaves the cooperative's Website by accessing another linked Website, the centre no longer has control over how personal data may be used. The centre's privacy statement applies solely to information collected by Marshalltown Gateway Centre.

Data Security

The centre makes every effort to keep member and customer data secure. Internal servers are, at minimum, protected behind a firewall. All employees with access to customer data are required to login with a user ID and password.

• Online security for personal and sensitive information transferred from the Website via the Internet (such as credit card numbers, account information, etc.) uses encryption software to protect the data from unauthorized access, use or disclosure.

Notification of Changes

Changes to this privacy policy will occasionally be updated to reflect company and member and customer needs. Members and customers will only be notified of policy changes when the changes are substantial and affect current information collection and use policies as described above.
